Admiral Nicholas 'Nicky' was my first purebred Maine Coon. My Nicky was one special brown tabby boy that will forever hold a place in my heart. With Nicky's passing in 2003, and not being able to stand the emptiness left without him, my search for a new baby began in 2004. Upon the recommendation of my trusted veterinarian, I was referred to Margie George of Zunicoon. Margie, a dear friend and mentor, continues to guide and support me. It is with her trust and support, I have this awesome start and opportunity to love, raise, and show this beautiful breed.

In 2004, I brought my new baby, Sundance ‘Sunny’ Kid and his best buddy 'Jesse' James home from Zunicoon. It's with showing Sunny with Margie, helping at the local shows, and meeting a wonderful new family of friends that my new and exciting hobby began. And, as they say - the rest is history.
In 2006, I became a CFA registered cattery and was very proud to have played an active role showing and achieving what I hope to be the first of several Grand Champions with GC Zunicoon Vader of Suncoon. Vader, became my first breeding male. Now, after producing numerous beautiful babies and several Grand Champions, Vader retired in 2012 to his wonderful loving home in Nevada. Vader is living a much deserved and pampered life after contributing a strong foundation and diversity to my and other breeding programs. In 2009-2010, Marilyn Lidner of Azicoon and I had a fun and memory filled season showing a blue eyed white boy of her breeding with Margie named Foxxy. Foxxy achieved a CFA Southwest Regional Win and also was named CFA's Best Solid Maine Coon Nationally & 6th Best Maine Coon Nationally. Foxxy's first son, Dexter Han Solo, was born on my birthday in 2010 and went on to became Suncoon's first home grown 4 ring one show Grand Champion in July 2011. Suncoon's journey to raise, show, and promote the most healthy, loving, and excellent type Maine Coons continues. I am now honored and privileged to be friends and work with Sue Storten of McKittycreek, Ramona & Paul Shuba of Shubacoons, Judy Friedman of Coons'Kins, to name a few. Suncoon is proud to be registered and show in the CFA and TICA Organizations. We are members of the National Maine Coon Cat Club, the Phoenix Feline Fanciers Club, a regional member of the Maine Attraction Cat Club in California, Provisional Member of MCBFA (Maine Coon Breeder & Fancier's Association), and the Maine Coon Breed Council. |
Suncoon is a small in home cattery dedicated to the belief that our cats live as members of our family. Our cats are never caged and our kittens are raised underfoot until the day they go to their new forever homes. The boys have their own bedroom complete with cat trees, toys, and large windows adjacent to our main living room area. Our breeding cats are DNA and cardiac ultrasound tested annually by a certified cardiologist. Our kittens are tested and examined by a Veterinarian and a health guarantee and contract accompanies all of our kittens.
